Signed something at your door?
You can likely cancel it.
In Ontario, BC, Alberta and Quebec you have 10 days to cancel a contract signed at home, for any reason, and the company must refund you within 15 days. Some door-to-door sales, like furnaces and water heaters, can be void outright.

How to send it
- Send it today by email to the company, and also by registered mail if you can. Keep proof of when you sent it: the law counts the notice from the day it's sent.
- Use the contact details on your contract. Don't rely on a phone call alone.
- Don't let them deliver, install or start work. If something was already installed, ask them in writing to remove it.
What else are you owed?
Orders that never arrived, uncashed CRA cheques, forgotten bank balances, class action settlements and flight compensation. All free to check.
Good to know
Do I need a reason to cancel?
No. During the 10-day cooling-off period you can cancel for any reason.
What if more than 10 days have passed?
You may still be able to cancel within a year in some cases, for example if your contract was missing required information or the goods weren't delivered on time. Contact your provincial consumer protection office.
Is this legal advice?
